This is my favorite tattoo, it is a painting by Charles Gilbert, titled All is Vanity. I love this era of art, and how it is an illusion, from afar it looks like a skull and close up it is a women in a mirror. It was done at the Jesters Court, Southside in Pittsburgh, by Michael Patrick. He’s a great guy and artist, I can not say enough great things about him and his work.
This is amazing. So subtle and tasteful. I can’t wait to get my tattoo.
Crossing over
it’s the way the skull and hat are engulfed in fire that did me in…(and everything else too I guess)
Pompeii was my favorite destination while studying in Italy, and was able to take some of my favorite shots there…
For those who don’t already know, a great number of people in Pompeii were “flash fossilized”. The immense heat of the volcanic ash almost instantly fossilized these poor souls.
